I am adding a ProTaper SE bar, which is 2' longer than stock bar, so am inclined to go with the Adventure model-but. Looks like our stock grips are about 4.75 inches long. I noticed they have 'adventure' model (5.2 inches) and also a 'touring' model (4.70 inches). You might want to find a used throttle tube on ebay and order it in advance just in case. I'm looking to add a set of Oxford Heaterz premium grips to my 2012 DL650. WD 40 combined with the heat should allow it to spread to all the nooks and crannies, hopefully you will be able to twist the grip off at this point.ĭo the left side first. Pry a little bit just to get the grip flexible, then quickly remove the screw driver, shove in the little red straw from a cna of WD40 and spray inside, a lot. If you can manage to just get the screwdriver in at least half way to 3\4 in then could yourself lucky. Comfortable flat-lock seams 4-way stretch material Long, sculpted shape at front & rear (Micro fleece & Micro fibre only) Extra ventilation for nose. See if you can get it under the grips at all, oxford grips are not as flexible as others so this may prove difficult. Grab a long but thin flat head screwdriver. EDIT - And they are a bit longer than the stock grips so I just moved the entire grip (light switches and kill switch) over about 1/4 of an inch.
#OXFORD DELUXE HEATED GRIPS INSTALL#
Remove the clutch and brake levers so you have room to work. 20 (Edited) Take a look at Koso heated grips - biult in controller and they install very easy. I see you're in CA, do this during daylight so the sun can help with the heating process. If you used the cement that came with them they are not coming off easily, and possibly not at all intact.įirst thing I would try is to hook them up to a 12v power supply and leave them on for a while.
